Many of us can’t imagine starting our day without a steaming cup of coffee.  The ritual seems necessary to get our neurons firing, blood pumping and providing a sense of well being that puts a smile on our face.   Well there are more reasons now to indulge.  There are studies showing that these aren’t imagined benefits.   Coffee consumption can decrease neurodegeneration, lower the risk of cardiovascular disease, and decrease depression.  A recent study in the New England Journal of Medicine suggests that coffee consumption may even lower mortality.  So enjoy that second cup, live longer and smile!
